When it comes to hair appointments, timing is everything. I ask that you please come on time to your appointments and I will do my best to stay on time in order to respect yours.
Please try and give a significant amount of notice for rescheduling. minimum of 24 hours but 48 would be best. (when your confirmation email shows up)
No Show appointments will result in a change in the way your appointments will be booked: Appointments will be charged up to 100% of the service fee. Advanced bookings during priority times will be no longer be available, deposits will be required

Diversity is celebrated (LGBTQ friendly, body positive, queer & poly, ethnicities, etc.), prejudice will not be tolerated. I work actively as an ally and refuse any language that might make someone feel uncomfortable to be spoken in the studio. I will kindly ask you to stop. Depending on the severity of the issue, if we can’t come to a space of understanding on the value of human worth, we will end our professional relationship.
Accessibility (the salon is located in my home’s basement. The ability to climb stairs will be necessary for an appointment.) The bathroom is located on the same level as the salon. There is usually parking available in my driveway, if it is empty, it is yours to park in so that you can be closer to the entrance.

Venting is allowed - within reason, let's respect that not everyday is a day for people to take on more - trauma dumping requires permission on both of our ends.
Privacy: Consider the space to be Vegas, as in, what happens in the hair studio stays in the hair studio.

Before you do, think about the times you wanted to see a stylist at a specific time but they were fully booked. How much did that suck? Also, think about the last time you were expecting a pay cheque but there was an error or how you would handle your weekly budgeting if a couple hundred dollars unexpectedly got withheld. Ouch, right? Of course if you wake up sick, this is a different situation, but please let me know and cancel/reschedule ASAP.
Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel your appointment. (48 hours would be best) .
If you NO SHOW: you will be required to pay for your appointment and also a NON-refundable deposit in order to book another appointment.
Day of appointment cancellations/late will require at least a partial payment of your appointment.
If an unexpected urgent matter comes up, please send a text to let me know what to expect is reasonable. If that’s not possible, emergencies etc. you will likely hear from me first and foremost to check if you are okay and secondly to decide how to handle rescheduling and future appointments. communication is key.

I prioritize my energy in a way that supports my creations, multiple businesses and taking care of my family and home that avoids burnout. This means your hair gets all the attention a work of art deserves. It also means I give myself the time to work on my other passions, and care for myself and be with my family. I also don’t control the school hours and need to be available for pick up and after school care. It's nice to be missed and I’m flattered that you only trust me to do your hair so please also trust that I will do my best to see you as soon as it’s possible.

Please enjoy this time for you as I massage using both my hands and a scalp brush. You can provide feedback as I do this, but mainly, just lay back, close your eyes (Please, try to limit your moaning and seriously close your eyes or avoid looking directly into my nostrils, it's better that way). I will often hit some acupressure points and get out some tension for you as your hair and scalp get nourished. I can also massage into your brow bone area or sinuses if this is something you would like added on. The scrub brushes are available for sale. If I don’t have any in stock they are on the HAIRSTORY website.

Seriously, I would never ask you to work for less than your value. This isn't a hobby; it's my livelihood, I just happen to really enjoy what I do. I would love to work with you and maybe we can create a plan for your hair that works within your budget or a payment plan. Or maybe, we can’t work together but I might be able to recommend someone who can work within your budget. My prices and the value of my time are not negotiable.

Please let me know prior to your appointment if you have any concerns. There will be a section for sensory concerns when you book. If you have any allergies that could be present in my products I need to know in advance in order to have the right products in stock to not cause an issue for you. If you are allergic to cats, please note that I have 2. I have an air filter running in the salon area and my house does not have forced air, which means that the dust and dander and hair aren’t blown around via the vents and this generally creates a more pleasant experience for those with allergies. If you have had reactions to colour or product before but aren’t sure of what caused the issue, please book a consultation so that we can perform allergy tests and create a strategy for your hair with your health at the forefront.

The norm is lots of sharing of experiences and venting about those experiences. People say I'm great with advice, almost like I am also a life coach, oh wait. ;) - I say I'm simply honest and direct and want the best for you. Whatever you share will stay between us.
If you'd rather be quiet, we can absolutely do that - just [don't] say the word! A mindful artist is a focused artist. A silent appointment will still require a discussion on what you would like done with your hair. If you want a quiet appointment please state this in the sensory concern portion while booking. We will have a consultation before we go quiet.

I am located at 43 Tragina Ave S. If you have a weekday appointment you can park in the driveway, if you have a Saturday appointment it's more likely that you will need to park on the street. Please do not park in my neighbour’s driveway. To enter the salon please go through the back gate into the yard and around the corner to the back door. If the door is open please come in, if you are early and it is closed please knock/send a text to let me know you are here. There is a staircase to come down into the salon, if you have mobility issues and need help down the stairs please let me know. Please keep your shoes on if the weather is nice, otherwise there are slippers available for you. Please do not go barefoot/socks only - this is a health and safety concern.

I use the SQUARE terminal: I accept DEBIT, AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER as well as cash. Please note, I no longer accept email money transfer and cheque in salon now that I have Interac debit. If you are looking to finance your appointment, AFTERPAY or INVOICING are available for a small fee. The payments for AFTERPAY will be spread out over a month without interest and are determined by the third party of AFTERPAY.

Ah, the age-old tipping dilemma! Traditionally, people don’t tip the owner of a salon—but let’s be real, I’m not just the owner. I’m also the stylist, the receptionist, the cleaning crew, the one making sure the vibes are right, and probably the person refilling your coffee.
This year, instead of raising my prices, I’ve created service packages packed with way more value for your cost. That means you’re getting extra perks without extra fees. Tipping helps me continue providing top-notch service and keeps my business thriving—especially during those fun (read: challenging) times small businesses face.
That said, tipping is never expected but always appreciated—just like telling me my blowouts are life-changing (which, honestly, they are). If tipping isn’t your thing, no worries! A glowing review, a referral, or a heartfelt “this is the best my hair has ever looked” goes a long way too.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you leave my chair feeling fabulous.

First and foremost, your health and safety are my first concern, please text or call me if it is safe to do so.
Depending on how late you are for your appointment I may not be able to perform your service in its entirety or at all. This may result in a day of cancellation and you may be charged accordingly. (Now if you know me, you know I am almost always just on time to the minute, so that is not at all what I mean by late. I am working on adding in buffer times through the online booking system for all of our sakes. :)) seriously though if you can let me know you are running behind so I don’t panic that something is wrong with you, that’d be awesome.

I will be sending out emails on most Mondays with some coaching and mindset tips as well as booking information, available appointments, vacations etc. It will also include sales and recommendations to products that I may or may not receive a small commission from. Beyond hair studio news, it will have life news, yoga classes, events and other Life Artist business.

As for DesignMe, I know it was easy to order through my link and get it sent to your home and I understand if you want to keep ordering online. The company has discontinued their affiliate links and as of 2024 I no longer make a referral commission.
